Kid’s Shoes Fitting Guide

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Children’s feet can grow an entire size or mroe every three months which can make it tough to keep properly fitted shoes on your children.

When shopping for your first pair of kid’s shoes, you should wait until your child starts to walk.  Research shows children develop well-devloped feet when they learn to walk barefoot first.  You can use soft booties or warm skid-free socks to keep your child’s feet warm and unrestricted.

When your child does begin to walk and it’s time to buy their first pair of baby shoes, you should take them to a quality children’s shoes store with children’s shoes specialist that can properly fit your child.  Recommended stores are Stride Ride, Elefanted, and Nordstrom.

Have the salesperson measure the length and width of both your child’s feet.  Many children have a wide foot and need wider shoes that will fit them properly.  Also make sure the shoes aren’t too big, which will cause your child to trip.  The first pair of shoes should be soft and pliable to let your child get a feel for the ground.

As your child grows, have your child get their feet measured on a regular basis at a shoe store that specializes in children’s shoes.  Since kids grow fast, their shoe size can change from month to month.  If you do buy shoes from somewhere without a salesperson, make sure to know their size so you can be certain what shoes will fit them properly.

When buying shoes, have your child try both shoes on to see if everything fits and feels right.  Until your child can tie their own shoes, buying shoes with velcro will save both of you a lot of time.

Cellphone gadgets: ringtoons, real ringtones and truetones

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Downloading new ringtones is fun, but there are hazards that mobile phone users should avoid. Many sites offer free cell phone ringtones to encourage customers to patronize their products. Downloading ringtones on cellphones using Virgin mobile carriers is the same as the other networks. You can download ring tones directly to your phone through WAP or SMS. Download the latest hot Ringtones absolutely free. Whether you’re looking to express yourself or represent your best friend, www.tonetastic.nl has exactly what you’re looking for.

Realtone, sometimes called real music ringtone, has now replaced polyphonies. Realtone has now taken over the market making it a growing consumer spending mobile content on music personalization. real music ringtones have, no doubt, fetched large amount of business for mobile music industrialists. Record labels, for instance, frequently release the tones before the single to enjoy the first-mover advantage in the market, as realtones usually outperform singles.

Polyphonic tunes, however, lack the ability to use digitalized audio samples. Polyphonic ringtones allow more than one note to be played at once and also increase the sounds that are available to be played by using the SP-MIDI format. This will increase the range of music that will now be able to be created as a ringtone. Polyphonic ringtones, true MP3 real tones, wallpapers and much more for your cell phone.

Want to pimp your phone with some Nokia ringtones? Truetones often outsell singles. funny ringtonen are mp3 sounds of real things. Like a mowing cat or the mowing of a cow is always funny.

Lean about Photography and its Development

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Photography is the result of combining several technical developments . Long before the first photographs were made, Chinese philosopher Mo Ti described a pinhole camera in the 5th century, Albertus Magnus discovered silver nitrate and Georges Fabricius discovered silver chloride. Daniel Barbaro described a diaphragm in 1568. Wilhelm Homberg described how light darkened some chemicals (photochemical effect) in 1694. The fiction book Giphantie, published in 1760, by French author Tiphaigne de la Roche, described what can be interpreted as photography.

Photography as a usable process goes back to the 1820s with the development of chemical photography. The first fixed photograph was an image produced in 1825 by the French inventor Nicéphore Niépce. However, because his images took so long to expose, he sought to find a new process. Working with Louis Daguerre, they experimented with silver compounds based on a Johann Heinrich Schultz discovery in 1724 that a silver and chalk mixture darkens when exposed to light. Niépce died in 1833, but Daguerre continued the work, eventually culminating with the development of the daguerreotype in 1837. Daguerre took the original photo of a person in 1839 when, while taking a daguerreotype of a Paris street, a pedestrian stopped for a shoe shine, long enough to be captured by the long exposure (several minutes). Eventually, France agreed to pay Daguerre a pension for his formula, in exchange for his promise to announce his discovery to the world as the gift of France, which he did in 1839.

Meanwhile, Hercules Florence had already created a very similar process in 1832, naming it Photographie and William Fox Talbot had earlier discovered another means to fix a silver process image but had kept it secret. After reading about Daguerre’s invention, Talbot refined his process so that portraits were made readily available to the masses. By 1840, Talbot had invented the calotype process, which produces negative images. John Herschel made many contributions to the new methods. He invented the cyanotype process, now familiar as the “blueprint”. He was the first to use the terms “photography”, “negative” and “positive”. He discovered sodium thiosulphate solution to be a solvent of silver halides in 1819, and informed Talbot and Daguerre of his discovery in 1839 that it could be used to “fix” pictures and make them permanent. He made the first glass negative in late 1839.

In March 1851, Frederick Scott Archer shared his findings in “The Chemist” on the wet plate collodion process. This became the most widely used process between 1852 and the late 1880s when the dry plate was introduced. There are three subsets to the Collodion process; the Ambrotype (positive image on glass), the Ferrotype or Tintype (positive image on metal) and the negative which was printed on Albumen or Salt paper.

Many innovations in photographic glass plates and printing were made in through the nineteenth century. In 1884, George Eastman developed the technology of film to replace photographic plates, leading to the technology used by film cameras today.

In 1908 Gabriel Lippmann won the Nobel Laureate in Physics for his way of reproducing colours photographically based on the phenomenon of interference, also known as the Lippmann plate.

Processes

Monochrome Images

Photographs in the beginning were always produced in black and white and after colour films were made widely available, the commercial photographer carried on using black and white images due the lower costs and classy look.

It is important to note that some black and white pictures are not always pure blacks and whites, but also contain other hues depending on the process. The Cyanotype process produces an image of blue and white for example. The albumen process which was used more than 150 years ago had brown tones.

Many photographers continue to produce some monochromatic images. Some full colour digital images are processed using a variety of techniques to create black and whites, and some cameras have even been produced to exclusively shoot monochrome.

Colour

Colour photography was explored at the beginning in the mid 1800s. Early tests in colour could not fix the photograph and prevent the colour from fading. The first permanent colour photo was taken in 1861 by the physicist James Clerk Maxwell.

Early colour photographs were taken by Prokudin-Gorskii (1915). One of the early methods of taking colour photos was to use three cameras. Each camera would have a colour filter in front of the lens. This technique provides the photographer with the three basic channels required to recreate a colour picture in a darkroom or processing laboratory. Russian photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii developed another technique, with three colour plates taken in quick succession.

A practical application of the method was held back by the very limited colour response of early film, however, in the early 1900s, following the work of photo-chemists such as H. W. Vogel, emulsions with adequate sensitivity to green and red light at last became available.

The first colour plate, Autochrome, used by the French Lumière brothers, reached the market in 1907. It was based on a ’screen-plate’ filter made of dyed dots of potato starch, and was the only colour film on the market until German Agfa introduced the similar Agfacolor in 1932. In 1935, American Kodak introduced the first modern (‘integrated tri-pack’) colour film which was developed by Polish constructor Jan Szczepanik. It was Kodachrome, based on three coloured emulsions. This was followed in 1936 by Agfa’s Agfacolor Neue. Unlike the Kodachrome tri-pack process, the colour couplers in Agfacolor Neue were integral with the emulsion layers, which greatly simplified the film processing . Most new colour films, except Kodachrome, are based on the Agfacolor Neue technology. Instant colour film was introduced by Polaroid in 1963.

Colour photography may form images as a positive transparency, intended for use in a slide projector or as colour negatives intended for use in creating positive colour enlargements on specially coated paper. The latter is now the most common form of film (non-digital) colour photography owing to the introduction of automated photo printing equipment.

Full spectrum photography ultraviolet and infrared

Ultraviolet and infrared films have been available for some time and employed in a variety of photographic avenues since the 1960s. New technological trends in digital photography have opened a new direction in full spectrum photography, where careful filtering choices across the ultraviolet, visible and infrared lead to new artistic visions.

Modified digital cameras can detect some ultraviolet light and all of the visible and much of the near infrared spectrum. As most digital imaging sensors are sensitive from about 350 nm to 1000 nm. An off-the-shelf digital camera contains an infrared hot mirror filter that blocks most of the infrared and a bit of the ultraviolet that would otherwise be detected by the sensor, narrowing the accepted range from about 400 nm to 700 nm. Replacing a hot mirror or infrared blocking filter with an infrared pass or a wide spectrally transmitting filter allows the camera to detect the wider spectrum light at greater sensitivity. Lacking the hot-mirror, the red, green and blue (or cyan, yellow and magenta) coloured micro-filters placed over the sensor elements pass varying amounts of ultraviolet (blue window) and infrared (primarily red, and somewhat lesser the green and blue micro-filters).

Uses of full spectrum photography are for fine art photography, geology, forensics and law enforcement and even some claimed use in ghost hunting.

Digital Photography

The Nikon D1 was the first DSLR to truly compete with and begin to replace, film cameras in the professional photojournalism and sports photography fields and was the start of something very new.

The commercial photographer had quite a challenge on his hands, how to get the picture developed quickly and delivered to the newspapers while out on location, while being in competition with real time television and without the readily available processing facilities.

News photographers at remote locations often carried miniature photo labs and a means of transmitting images through telephone lines. In 1981, Sony unveiled the first public camera to use a charge-coupled device for imaging, eliminating the need for film: the Sony Mavica. While the Mavica saved images to disk, the images were displayed on television and the camera was not fully digital. In 1990, Kodak unveiled the DCS 100, the first commercially available digital camera. Although its high cost precluded uses other than photojournalism and professional photography, commercial digital photography was born.

Digital imaging uses an electronic image sensor to record the image as a set of electronic data rather than as chemical changes on film. The important difference between digital and chemical photography is that chemical photography resists manipulation because it involves film and photographic paper, while digital imaging is a highly creative medium. This difference allows for a degree of image post-processing that is comparatively difficult in film-based photography and permits different communicative potentials and applications.

Digital compact cameras have become widespread family products, outselling film cameras and including new features such as video and audio recording. Kodak announced back in January 2004 that it would no longer sell reloadable 35 mm cameras in western Europe, Canada and the United States after the end of that year. Kodak was at that time a minor player in the reloadable film cameras market. In January 2006, Nikon followed suit and announced that they will stop the production of all but two models of their film cameras: the low-end Nikon FM10, and the high-end Nikon F6. On May 25, 2006, Canon publicised that they will stop developing new film SLR cameras. Though most new camera designs are now digital, a new 6×6cm/6×7cm medium format film camera was introduced in 2008 in a co-operation between Fuji and Voigtländer.

According to a study made by Kodak in 2007, 75 percent of professional photographers say they will continue to use film, even though some embrace digital.

A survey held in the U.S. showed that over two thirds of the professional photographer group that compared film images to digital images liked the film results better for some circumstances which included:

  • film’s superiority in capturing more information on medium and large format films (48 percent);
  • creating a traditional photographic look (48 percent);
  • capturing shadow and highlighting details (45 percent);the wide exposure latitude of film (42 percent); and
  • archival storage. (38 percent)

Digital pictures has raised many ethical concerns because of the ease of manipulating digital photographs in post processing. Many snappers have declared they will not crop their pictures, or are forbidden from combining elements of multiple photos to make “illustrations,” passing them as real photographs. Today’s technology has made picture editing relatively simple for even the novice photographer. However, recent changes of in camera processing allows digital fingerprinting of RAW photos to verify against tampering of digital photos for forensics use.

Camera phones, combined with many photo sharing web sites, have lead the way to a new kind of social photography. But that is a whole new article.

Social Bookmarking & SEO

Monday, October 26th, 2009

The idea of social bookmarking grew vastly trendy thanks to portals such as Deli.cio.us and Digg. The concept is that a page or blog is assembled, filed and then tagged to be classified in time by pertinence. The material brought in by social bookmarks is mainly seen as more germane for most people because the reference is given by live people. Its value is decided by human viewers instead of a search engine coming up with results based on keywords. A points scheme is also used with stories on social bookmarking sites and to bring in a greater personal side to it.

Social bookmarking, the major ones, and the Digg clones and Delicious clones can contribute waves of viewership to your portal. Marketing your site through social bookmarking is simple, as long as you have relevant and practical information. The bookmarking world will acknowledge its usefulness and rate it and thus generate greater hits through the bookmarking websites. Your site’s viewership can rise greatly as a result of social bookmarkers.

Target the niche market that is relevant to your portal. Attempt to to get in touch with to those bases that will have viewers who appreciate the material, and as a result can push it up and generate excitement about it in the bookmarking community. You can additionally build back links to your portal by attaching URLs to your content. This may not mean anything in terms of SEO asset as some social bookmarking software implement a ‘no follow’ policy, associating tags to your links. However users could still use your site and bring name to the attached links.

Nowadays with dozens of social bookmarking websites, it is important to try to get linked into one in some way. The possibilities from there are limitless as you raise your viewer base and gain points among the community of your site.

Since tens of thousands of people are looking to get their website indexed very quickly, running your own social bookmarking site has proven to be very profitable by some. However, the days of creating a general social bookmarking site are over and the money is in the niches such as the finance niche, health niche or even local news niche.

Does it Matter Whether I Purchase a .com Extention for my Site?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I have heard both sides of this controversy from different marketers over the years, but primarily the answer most would give to that question is yes, it does make a difference. That for some reason, Google gives more “appreciation” to a .com or even a .org domain than to a .info (or even .net) domain.

The people that have said this to me say that it is undeniable to see this is true because when you look at the search results you receive when you enter a search phrase into the search engines, the top sites are quite often going to be .com or .org.

Yes, this is generally true, but I have another side to that statement that you must consider when choosing which extension you choose to buy.

There are many, many, many more .com and .org websites on the Internet than there are .info. This statement alone could explain why the search results usually have .com and .org domain names in their top listings. This does not mean that it is not possible that the search engines like .com or .org, I am simply bringing up a point. That is that .com and .org domains should be in the top of the search results most of the time, there are 10’s, even 100’s of thousands more websites with a .com or .org domain extension.

I myself have way more .com domains. I prefer them because when people enter websites into their address bar they tend to enter .com. So, by simply buying a .com you can ensure they go to your site. If the website you were looking for in a .com has a .info available and you buy it, then when the person goes to type it into their address bar, it is likely that unless they were actually attentive, they will be entering in .com. And so instead of going to your website, they would land on someone else’s.

I do have some .info extensions however and as far as a SEO stand point I have discovered that they rank in the search engines equally as well as a .com website. So, for search engine optimization reasons it doesn’t really seem to matter which extension you purchase. The search engine optimization side comes down more to your keywords and links than to the domain extension you buy.

Therefore, it comes down to what you prefer. Does it matter to you whetherthey accidentally enter .com rather than .info (or even .net)? Your answer to this question will help you chose which domain extension you buy.

Buying Jewelry For Men

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

What do you buy for the man who has it all? Jewelry is not just for women to wear and men to buy. It is a common disbelief that only women wear jewelry. In fact, more and more men are choosing to accessorize their wardrobes with fresh jewelry. Whether it is a gold or platinum bracelet, a fancier men’s diamond bracelet, or a gold or platinum necklace or ring, men are propelling this trend further than ever. You might see a man wearing a wedding band, or class ring in the past, but now you see more fashionable or decorative rings on men’s hands. Maybe it is an accessory that coordinates with a watch or just the outfit itself.

When it comes to buying jewelry for men (which by the way comes from the Dutch word ‘sieraden‘), there are a few simple things to keep in mind. First of all, is he someone who wears a suit to work every day or just on formal occasions? Does he have a big event or celebration coming up? If so, a modern looking diamond bracelet made of gold or platinum may just be the best gift. He will get plenty of use out of it especially if he has to don a suit every day. With the addition of a nice bracelet, watch or ring, an outfit can go from everyday boring to modern handsome.

With the holiday season coming up, a gift of jewelry for men can solve that problem of trying to figure out what to get him. Imagine his delight, when he opens up a jewelry box with such a thoughtful gift. Not only did you pick something out that could be incorporated into daily wear but it could also be something reserved for special occasions. Either way, he will think of the one who gave it to him every time he wears it.

Variations on men’s jewelry include watches, bracelets, necklaces, chain necklaces, and rings. You can select a gold or platinum version or stick with silver if budget is a concern. Also, you can go with a plain, or stone less piece of jewelry instead of including diamonds in the piece. This will save on budget and sparkle.

What You Need To Know to Apply for a Credit Card

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

One of the disadvantages of modern times is that people tend to acquire so many things they don’t really need. Numerous gadgets and services occurred targeting a vast market of consumers and this emergence of various inventions somehow blinded people.

Since finances—especially money—is one of the major concerns of many people, a wide array of financial management services and financial options emerged. One of the most visible among the unending line of financial management services there are is the credit card.

Although many people testify for the financial convenience you get when you apply for a credit card, it doesn’t mean that every financing convenience applies for you or for everybody in that matter.

When people apply for a credit card, there is always a reason. It can be for managing their finances, needing extra money or in preparation to a big expenditure. But, no matter what the reason is, people apply for a credit card because of the ultimate convenience it brings. By now, you may have had your share of ‘pre-approved’ credit card offers in your virtual and physical mail. Since people are quite vulnerable when they apply for a credit card, some credit card issuers lure these people by giving low APR credit cards, cashback credit cards and zero interest credit cards among other numerous perks. The tendency of this so many alternatives and “value” deals is to sway the person who wants to apply for a credit card.

There are undeniably endless lists of pros and cons when you apply for a credit card, but if you really have decided to apply for a credit card, these are some of the helpful tips that can guide you on your credit card shopping journey.

Actually, there are three easy steps you should follow if you have decided to apply for a credit card. First, surf the net and do some research on credit cards. By doing this, you can familiarize yourself with different credit card terms and types. Second, you can compare numerous credit cards that would best serve your needs and lastly, you may now apply for the credit card of your choice by filling out a credit card application by visiting a bank representative or through online.

In order to find the right credit card fast and easy, first, before you apply for a credit card, make sure you mastered the credit card terms. When you apply for a credit card you must know what a “credit card” really is. Being a form of borrowing that involves charges, credit cards usually have underlying credit terms and conditions affect your overall cost. So, it’s best to compare terms and fees before you apply for a credit card and agree to open an account. Some of the important terms to be understood well include the annual percentage rate or the APR.

When you apply for a credit card, you must know how the APR affects your credit account. Being a measure of the cost of credit expressed as a yearly rate, the APR should be disclosed before you apply for a credit card so that you would not be obligated on the account and on your account statements later on. Aside from APR, the periodic rate must be disclosed to the card holder before they completely apply for a credit card so they would have an idea of their outstanding balance and finance charge for each billing period. Other important terms to know before you apply for a credit card are free period or “grace period,” annual fees, transaction fees and other charges, other costs and feature, and balance computation method for the finance charge like average daily balance, adjusted balance, previous balance, and two-cycle balances. If you’re not that type of person who is patient enough to research on all these terms, make sure that before you apply for a credit card, the issuer will give an explanation how the balance is computed and it must appear on your monthly billing statements.

Bad Credit Card Consolidation Loans-Are They a Good Debt Relief Method?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Is a credit card consolidation loan something you should consider for debt relief? This is one of the options available to people trying to get out of debt, but is it really a good one? Before deciding on a debt relief option you want to get all of the facts. There are other options and some are better than others.

One the least desirable methods of debt relief is a credit card debt consolidation loan. It moves debt from one place to another and does not accomplish much, even with a lower interest rate. You are lengthening the amount of time it takes to repay the loan. Financing debt with more debt is not a good idea.

One of the problems with these loans is the available credit that will now be present on your paid off credit cards. Statistics show that within a year many of these people will have credit card debt again. This will leave them with a credit card debt and a bill consolidation loan.

Problem number two is that bad credit debt consolidation loans are normally secured with your home and this means that you have to be credit worthy to qualify for this loan. But more importantly, if you default on the loan, you could find your home in foreclosure. You never want to use your home to finance credit card debt.

Credit card debt can be extremely stressful and what is even worse is it can overwhelm you to the point that you don’t know where to turn. A credit counseling company is a good place to start. On the outside chance that they cannot help you, they will refer you to someone that can. Get a free online quote today.
